Cyrtophora cicatrosa
The web of Cyrtophora cicatrosa is a complex, three-dimensional structure. It seems to have a number of compartments, the most noticeable being dome-shaped. I think that the spider spends most of its time in the "dome". This spider, as you can see in the photo, must have moulted recently and its exuvia is attached to the web, much lower down. In my most recent spotting of this species - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/20....... there were two exuvia (singular and plural are spelt the same) and they were both near the bottom of that web also. I don't know if this is just coincidental, but I will be checking for this in any future spottings of Cyrtophora cicatrosa exuvia.
This spider was spotted in our backyard. Its web was on an unidentified plant growing along a fence.
