The fat little fella has been stealing food from the bird feeder for sometime now. He looks like he needs low cal seeds now.
Hardwood for nut gathering and soft wooded areas for food stashes
I have 30 acres of forest behind my home. It is mostly hard wood and some softwood scattered around. This little fella lives in an old dead hardwood tree I have left standing to provide homes for many birds and mammals in the forested area.
I have a 11 year old daughter that has befriended all the nature around us, me the the big former hunter has been made to retire the hunting gear and accept she and her mom both out vote me every time! Such is life. I will post some of her other friends soon, keep watch!
It's nice that you've left an "apartment house" tree snag for the wildlife. And he is a fat little guy!!
