Greater Scaly Anole

Norops tropidonotus

Description:

Male dewlap was red with yellow fringe and darker red stain near center. Seems to match the expected pattern for this species of anole (Norops tropidonotus).

Habitat:

Tall pine-oak forest dominated by Pinus maximinoi, near 1700 meters elevation.

Notes:

Club BioZ visit to Reserva Biológica Uyuca. Not Brown Anole (Anolis sagrei), which is found in Caribbean basin and not in central Honduras.

Greater Scaly Anoles do not have wings

comumente llamado lagartija; Anolis tropidonotus es una especie de lagarto que pertenece a la familia Dactyloidae. Es nativo de México, Belice, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, y Nicaragua. Su rango altitudinal oscila entre 80 y 940 msnm.
