Odontoponera transversa
Odontoponera is restricted to Southeast Asia, where its range stretches from India to the Philippines and from southern China to the Lesser Sunda Islands of southern Indonesia (Creighton, 1929). They are soil dwellers and hunt alone. If it is alerted, it runs and hides under larger objects such as dried leaf. It stays still for a while even after you have removed the leaf. Take this opportunity to take many detail shots of it.
It is found to live in the soil with more sand but less clay of a matured rainforest.
