Description:

Mourning cloaks can live up to 12 months. Large butterflies with dark maroon wings with pale yellow edges and iridescent blue spots on the dorsal side. The ventral side of the wings has gray striations, with the same pale-yellow edges.

Habitat:

Spotted next to the Cle Elum River. Conifer forest.
