Scarab beetle

Melolonthinae

Description:

3-4 cm long larvae, white and translucent, moving surprisingly fast when trying to burrow itself. I'm not sure about the ID yet, but looks like May bug or May beetle or some other scarab beetles belonging to Melolonthinae subfamily.

Habitat:

Seen in our flower pots on our balcony overseeing our residence's backyard, at outskirts of a small urban center in Geneva lake valley. The backyard counts a number of deciduous trees and shrubs, most of them spontaneous and local, some planted. The backyard neighbours a meadow (used for producing hay - but unfortunately soon to be gone) and a lowland deciduous (mainly oak and beech) forest, and some other agricultural fields.

Notes:

Found in one of our planted pots, on our balcony, when plants suddenly started dying... when emptying the pot, all of these were inside - we provided them another home for now (some humus rich soil, and rests of some discarded plants and peels, with some adventices on top...). For now, they support the change quite well, we will what comes out later on...
