Cycas revoluta
This Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta), locally known as Oliba, has been adopted as a host plant by a Dome Spider colony (a series of inter-connecting webs). Spiders are not usually considered to be social animals, but the Dome Spider, Cyrtophora cicatrosa Stoliczka, 1869 seems to have developed a life style which is not truly social like ants or honey bees, but appears to have some elements of social behaviour.
The Sago Palm is growing in our front yard. We planted it almost 20 years ago. The Dome Spider Colony has been developing on the palm for a few years now (not sure exactly how long),
