Indian Tree Shrew

Anathana ellioti

Description:

Small. Shy. Squirrel-like. Bushy tail.

Habitat:

We had stopped to shoot something else (most likely, a bird higher up on this tree) when we spotted this shy creature's tail hanging out. Somehow, it had not spotted us! So we watched it enter its home and turn around to pose for us. At Tadoba-Andheri National park near Nagpur. People come here to spot tigers but I was over the moon to spot this rarely-sighted creature. Not rare, mind you. Simply, rarely-spotted.

Notes:

Could not locate any other spotting of this species on PN...
