Bush Cricket

Eupholidoptera chabrieri

Description:

This is a species of katydids or bush-cricket in the family Tettigoniidae. It has a body about 4 cm long, brown on dorsal side and bright green on ventral and lateral plates, with black patterns on pronotum and hind legs, with bright yellow line on the edge of pronotum plate. Very long and elegant hind legs.

Habitat:

Observed in a house surrounded by mediterranean maquis, on terrace bordering the vineyards and olive growth. Seen few times at dusk or in the night, on Dubrovnik riviera.

Notes:

Usually counted as a subspecies of E. chabrieri, it is sometimes found as separated species, E. schmidti.
