A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Actinia equina
Its body is cylindrical. The base is a flat disk that works as a foot that allows you to move. It has a mouth in the center, and around it tentacles composed of cnidocytes, stinging cells provided with paralyzing neurotoxins in response to contact. The anemone uses this mechanism to evade enemies or allow it to more easily ingest prey into the gastrovascular cavity.
