Parrot Waxcap

Gliophorus psittacinus

Description:

Small, slightly conical, green to bright yellow mushrooms. Texture of caps is waxy to slimy (and, to my surprise, oily). Nearby specimens have cream to yellow colored pilei. Gills are bright yellow to green. Stipe is smooth and green to yellow. Spore print is white.

Habitat:

Growing at the base of a ridge in dense mixed hardwood/pine forest. Surrounded by pine straw, leaves, small plants, ground cedar, and ferns. Northwest Georgia (Gordon County), US.

Thank you! Yes, they were a strange kind of slimy though...almost oily?
