Gum leaf skeletonizer moth

Description:

These small furry caterpillars working in large numbers can denude leaves and even trees of their fleshy tissue. Young instars aggregate and later instars are solitary. This late instar has retained the head segments of early exuvia creating a tall projection and wearing it like a crown.
